My passion for transformation came out of a season I would describe as absolute burnout. I had been following Jesus for ten years, but what I was feeling wasn’t the joyful presence of Jesus—I felt tired, stuck, and honestly, frustrated.

That’s when the Lord began to pursue me, little by little, into areas of freedom. That journey sparked a big love in me for transformation and a growing curiosity about formation.

A significant part of that season was being coached and learning how to integrate my spiritual and emotional growth. The impact it had on how I lead others—and how I show up as a friend—was crucial. It changed everything.

What I love about the work of formation is that it gives us (and those around us) an invitation to participate in how we grow. Freedom and transformation aren’t just things that happen to us; they’re things we get to hold with initiative.

Over the years, I’ve served as a Young Life leader, received seminary training, and worked closely with college students. Each of those roles has slowly shaped how I sit with people in spaces where they long to be heard. They’ve taught me how to walk alongside others in seasons of growth and seeking, to develop patience, to see people beyond their hurt, and to ask curious, thoughtful questions along the way.

One verse that grounds me is Psalm 16:11:

“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”

And a quote that resonates deeply with me comes from John Mark Comer:

“Love, joy, and peace are at the heart of all Jesus is trying to grow in the soil of your life.”
